Coordinating the UN's work on water and sanitation

WaterLex

WaterLex is uniquely placed to promote law and policy reform to realise the human rights to water and sanitation (HRWS). Located beside the Human Rights Council in Geneva, it was founded in response to the explicit recognition of these rights by the UN General Assembly in 2010. It has built a platform of research based on these rights through a team of legal and policy experts, and a prestigious global membership with expertise in fields of water governance, sanitation and human rights.
After the integration of human rights into Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6) on water, the role of WaterLex has continued to evolve to advise national authorities, parliaments, National Human Rights Institutions, international organisations, civil society and non-governmental organisations on how to integrate governance improvements in law, policy and standards, such that SDG 6 can be realised.
